SocialBacklinker is a WordPress backlink plugin that specializes in using social media websites to submit backlinks for your WP blog/site.

The plugin has a modular structure. Each module is used to post to different social networking sites. The plugin is also available in a more advanced “Pro” version which comes with added features and modules. The SocialBacklinker demo is completely free to download and use but only comes with support for Twitter and bookmark sharing site Delicious.

SocialBacklinker is an innovative bookmarking plugin which helps draw traffic to your WordPress site by posting backlinks on a large number of social networking sites.

Unlike other bookmark plugins, SocialBacklinker lets you completely randomize the bookmarking process. It does this by pinging and bookmarking posts made by ALL your user accounts at a random time. The plugin also lets you decide the frequency of randomized bookmarking making your posts look completely authentic.

SocialBacklinker comes with a powerful account management tool which lets you import account data. You can use the tool to literally control thousands of accounts at a time and you can also use the mass-edit feature to modify settings for all your accounts at the same time.

SocialBacklinker comes in three versions, viz. demo, base version and the advanced “Pro” version. The fundamental difference between these versions is the number of modules they feature.

The demo version only has 2 modules which support Twitter and Delicious respectively. On the other hand, the base version sports 10 core modules which support social media sites like Twitter,  tumblr,  identi.ca,  Delicious,  Diigo,  Blog.com,  ping.fm,  StumbleUpon,  Newsvine and  Spotback. Lastly, the Pro version features 13 inbuilt modules with the extra modules providing support for sires like Amplify.com, clipmarks.com and playfire.com.

Additional modules which support sites various blogging and social media websites like my.opera.com, WordPress, Faves, MyLinkVault, Facebook, MySpace etc. are sold separately on the developer’s site for as low as $2 per module.

The SocialBacklinker Pro is a significant improvement on the base version and comes with a unique set of features which take automatic bookmarking to the next level. Some of these features include using proxies, content fuzzing and spinnable templates. The use of proxies to post articles is particularly useful as it helps prevent the blocking of your IP address which is otherwise a common problem.

Support for the plugin is available through a forum which is hosted on the developer’s website. Registered plugin users can conveniently utilize the forums to report bugs and other problems as the developer team is quite prompt with replies.

The plugin isn’t entirely bug-free as it deals with a large number of websites. But the developer David is keen to help out and addresses each query personally. Problems have been experienced whenever a social media site changes its API or other programming parameters. Recent examples include problems with Twitter and Playfire. The “Multisite” feature which comes with the Pro version is also not very stable currently and is prone to a lot of plugin conflicts and other errors.

On the other hand, the SocialBacklinker is updated quite frequently and errors in the the prior versions are completely dealt with in each subsequent version. This makes the SocialBacklinker a relatively problem-free and stable plugin.

The SocialBacklinker is a great bookmarking plugin which specifically focuses on social media websites. It covers the entire spectrum of social media websites and functionality for new sites is continuously added.

The plugin gives you the power to set up and control thousands of user accounts on a large number of social media websites. It also lets you completely randomize the time and frequency of posting. This makes your posts look authentic in contrast to other plugins whose posts are generally considered as spam.
