WF Review Plugin for WordPress Review
The WF Review Plugin is a WP review plugin that is particularly useful for the creation of a large number of reviews in a very small period of time. It manages to do this by allowing you to import ready made CSV files from popular sites like Commission Junction, Shareasale etc. Over 1300 sites are running the WF Review Plugin currently; this is a testament to the plugin’s effectiveness and it”s popularity with WordPress users.

- Comment generation feature automatically creates hundreds of grammatically correct and relevant comments and even lets you choose the gender of the commenter for gender-specific reviews
- Tracking friendly – Prosper202 and Google Analytics
- Version 4.0 supports comparison tables
- Offers complete integration with Google Maps
- Only paid review plugin to offer a 7 day free trail

Usability
The WF Review plugin helps you create a WP review/comparison site in the least amount of time. It is actually as simple as setting up a WP site, activating the WF Review plugin, using the CSV importer to access and setup thousands of reviews, generating automatic user ratings and comments and viola – your WP-based review site is ready to go live.
The plugin supports all WP themes as it allows you to autoembed rating buttons and other features. These features can be turned off and you can tweak the CSS files manually to suit your needs. The latest version of the plugin allows creation of custom posts and also automatically generates comparison tables making your review site truly interactive and user-friendly.
The WF Review plugin also comes with 3 bonus themes and a powerful comment generation feature which lets you generate thousands of relevant comments at the click of a button. This feature also gives you the option to choose the gender of the commenter; making it very convenient to add comments about gender specific products (make-up, wallets, sport shoes etc.)
The affiliate link manager which comes as part of this plugin helps you set up affiliate URLs in a simple and hassle-free manner. These affiliate links can also be cloaked at the press of a button. The WF Review Plugin also comes with comprehensive tracking options (support for Google Analytics and Prosper 202) and allows you to set up Google Maps on your WP review site.
The plugin has a $89 single site license fee which goes up to $139 for multiple sites. All future upgrades are free and the developer offers on-site IM and e-mail support. The developer has chosen to keep the documentation basic and instead offers video tutorials. Unfortunately most of these video links are for earlier versions of the plugin and they haven’t been updated in some time.
The plugin is not compatible with web hosts who do not support the IonCube Loader. This otherwise minor problem is a put-off for many people as they have to change their web hosts if they wish to use this plugin. Another problem is the lack of any support for the hReview microformat making this plugin less SEO-friendly as compared to other WP review plugins
Conclusion
If you are looking to setup a WP-based review/comparison site for a large number of products in a limited amount of time and you also want to automatically add a large number of user comments and ratings to your review site then the WF Review Plugin is an option for you.
On the other hand, if you want to create a niche review site with authentic reviews and user comments then there better alternatives available.
Having said that, the WF Review plugin is a competent and effective WP review plugin which does its job in a limited amount of time, saving you lots of time and effort.
The worst part about this plugin is that it seems not to be updated frequently. Support is not available!!!

Not bad
Can you comment on whether this plugin is currently supported by development? It seems to have all the features I’m looking for, but I’m getting the feeling that no one is home.
Hey Emily,
not quite sure about this. We have tested it but it seems that it is not really enhanced anymore. What features did you like about it?
For this site I used MyReviewPlugin. It brings the same functionalities and support is really good. Mark always helps you out and replies within a day or two the most.
Cheers,
Hendrik

Hi Hendrik,
I like the local (and national) directory feature. Their Premium Placement plugin looks good too, but with issue of no support, I don’t want to drop the cash to find out it doesn’t work or that it only works for a limited time.
The basic features I require are:
1) a geo-based directory to review local/national services; 2) (Optional) Author Review 3) User reviews 4) Sell premium ads (like WF Premium Placement plugin) 5) Multiple product/service types (for example restaurants and hair salons) 6) Product/service CSV import would be awesome! 7) Ability for user to submit additional products/services that aren’t currently listed 8) Of course, complete control of comment moderation.
There may be a few more things, but that’s the basic idea. Know of anything that fits the bill? (or does MyReviewPlugin do all these things?) I was originally looking at MyReviewPlugin and WPReviewEngine until I came across WF Review Plugin. So sad that it’s a dead project.
Thanks!
Hey Emily,
here is what I know:
>>>The basic features I require are:
>>>1) a geo-based directory to review local/national services;
MyReviewPlugin has a maps integration. That I am sure of. I have not tested it though as for this and my other affiliate sites I did not need it.
>>>2) (Optional) Author Review
With that you mean what I do here all the time? Dont you?
>>>3) User reviews
Possible, if they have an account. I am still thinking about it on this site.
>>>4) Sell premium ads (like WF Premium Placement plugin)
Not possible – at least not that I know of.
>>>5) Multiple product/service types (for example restaurants and hair salons)
Only through categories. Mark said that he wants to implement custom post types in one of the next versions.
>>>6) Product/service CSV import would be awesome!
MyReviewPlugin comes with a few other plugins. One of them is a pretty cool csv importer that I have used for another site.
>>>7) Ability for user to submit additional products/services that aren’t currently listed
Which would just mean that users can write post, right?
>>>Of course, complete control of comment moderation.
Possible. It even comes with another plugin (Comment Man) which automatically writes comments for you. Pretty nice for autoblogs, etc to create a lot of content
Hi Emily,
This is Mark, the lead developer of MyReviewPlugin. You’ll be happy to know that MyReviewPlugin is still under regular development (we’ve pushed out roughly 600 revisions to customers over the last year, mostly minor, but are on track to release version 6.0 very soon). MyReviewPlugin is designed to be very compatible with the type of sites you describe in #1, and there are literally thousands of websites at this point running MyRP to do exactly that.
To address your other concerns, (2), (3), (5), and (6) are all very easy in the current version of MyReviewPlugin. (4) is coming shortly after 6.0 and (7) can be done with a few custom modifications (email me if you’d like help with this). MyReviewPlugin has, on top of that, dozens if not hundreds of features than WF Review never did have.
In summary, I think we can help you out at MyReviewPlugin, and I’m sure Hendrik will stand behind me for the quality of our support, product, etc. We take customer support and having a high quality product very seriously.
As I do not check this blog very regularly (though I will make a point to check back a few times), if you do have any questions for me, you can send them to support@myreviewplugin.com and either I or my partner will get back to you as fast as possible.
Hope that helps. Again, if you do have any questions for me, please send them my way at support@myreviewplugin.com.

I purchased MyReviewPlugin and found that the key looks for a license server. I asked for a complete refund.

Hey Caps,
whats so bad about this? Could you please share your insights?
Thanks
Hendrik
Hi Hendrick,
Thanks for these great posts…I find them very helpful as I am developing a beta site using WordPress and Headway Themes (I am not a programmer, rather a designer) which includes both “User Review” functionality, as well as a “Community” plugin. I know that BuddyPress is compatible with Headway themes, but I am not sure if any of the Review plugins (that you have outlined on your blog) are compatible with both Headway Themes and BuddyPress? Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.
Hey Lianne,
thanks for the flowers. Good that we provide some help to you. If I were you I would go for MyReviewPlugin. If not for the features – for support. Mark will definitely help you integrating everything on your site. So I am pretty sure that it will work on your site as well
Let me know if you have further questions.
Cheers
Hendrik
