The pre-employment agility test (a.k.a. Essential Job Function Test) is designed to ensure new hires can perform the physical demands of a given job. A test is developed for each position using a written Job Description. This video shows an example of a pre-employment agility test for a Flatbed Truck Driver. In the trucking industry, many companies stop with just a DOT Physical, but we recommend doing the Agility Test in addition to the required DOT Physical, which does not give any indication to an applicants ability to perform physical demands such as lifting, stooping, pulling, tightening, etc.
This test can also be conducted prior to returning to work after and accident or extended leave.
