As efforts to stabilize Somalia continue, the government and the United Nations have started a youth employment programme. The initiative targets one thousand youths and women in seventeen districts from Benadir Region. Those targeted range from between 18 to 29 years. According to the Deputy Special Representative of United Nations Secretary General, Peter De Clerk, and the Mayor of Mogadishu, Thabit Abdi Mohamed, the beneficiaries will hail from vulnerable families, and those who are internally displaced.
